Getting Around

Boston is a friendly, walkable city with a great public transportation system known as the T (MBTA). All of Boston's downtown areas and neighborhoods are accessible by train, bus, trolley, or water transportation. The City of Boston has assembled some information to guide you whether you're walking, taking the T, riding a bike, or driving and parking a car.

Sumner Tunnel Restoration: Getting to and from Logan Airport

Between July 5 and August 5, for this entire block of time, the Sumner Tunnel, which is the primary auto route out of Logan Airport into downtown Boston, will be completely closed for repairs. Please review the DOT info about the Sumner Tunnel Restoration: Getting to and from Logan Airport for traffic detours if you insist on renting a car and driving to the conference, or were considering Uber or Lyft.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FROM LOGAN AIRPORT

For those of you flying into Logan Airport and using public transportation, your best option is the subway, known locally as the T. (Please note, the T is currently under maintenance and things sometimes shut down with little notice. Best to consult this website.) There are two options. The Blue Line option should be slightly faster.

At Logan Airport find a free Massport Shuttle at your terminal which will bring you to the Airport stop on the Blue Line. Once you purchase a Charlie Card, get on the Blue Line towards Bowdoin. Four stops later is Government Center. At Government Center switch to the Green Line – Train B – towards Boston College. Nine stops later is the Boston University Central stop. Get off the subway and walk towards the George Sherman Union Building, 775 Commonwealth Ave. The chapel that is flanked by arched cloisters is on the side of the street where you want to be. Once you are here, turn left, keeping the chapel to your right, and walk to the GSU.
