Woods Hole and Falmouth: WHOI and Waquoit Bay

Take a trip to Cape Cod to visit the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (WBNERR) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). We'll explore the shoreline and salt marsh, try out hands on activities at the oyster aquaculture site, and learn about other teaching resources on water quality and sea level rise. There will be time to peruse the Weekuw (traditional Wampanoag dwelling), muhsh8n (Wampanoag canoe), and view exhibits inside an estate built on the bluff in the 1890's,  as well as take in the great view of the bay from the bluff. Then travel down to the village of Woods Hole where you will grab some lunch in the quaint village.  Spend the afternoon exploring WHOI, the world's leading, independent non-profit organization dedicated to ocean research, exploration, and education. We will explore the David Center for Innovation where cutting edge technology is designed from start to finish with collaborative work spaces, 3-d printing, our machine shop, test tanks, and more. Go into WHOI labs where we will see specimens from the Ocean Twilight Zone and learn about how we explore the deep ocean.  End at our Discovery Center to get a taste of the wide range of ocean research at WHOI.
