International Partnerships Scholarship Program
The International Scholarship was created by the NMEA Board of Directors in 2024 to strengthen the organization’s commitment to supporting the growth in international partnerships and collaboration toward an ocean literate society This scholarship was previously part of the Member-only Scholarship. The International Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship up to $1500 to cover registration and travel. This is open to any non-US based person interested in attending the NMEA conference, regardless if they are an NMEA member or not.
Selection and Award
Application: Scholarship applications for this year’s conference are due by February 1, 2025. All applications received by the deadline are eligible for consideration.
Criteria: Scholarship awards are based on the merit of the applicants and geographical distribution.
Eligibility: This is open to any non-US based person interested in attending the NMEA conference, regardless if they are an NMEA member or not. Applicants must be over the age of 18.
Selection: Applications for NMEA scholarships are confidential and will be seen only by reviewers. Names of accepted international scholarship applicants will be shared with the NMEA Board of Directors. All applicants will be notified approximately one month after the scholarship application deadline, in order to be able to register before the early bird registration deadline and apply for a VISA, if necessary.
Award: Successful applicants will receive a complimentary one-year membership to NMEA and up to $1500 to help cover registration and travel costs for the NMEA Annual Conference. Successful applicants will have 90 days after the last day of the conference to submit all paperwork and receipts to receive the scholarship reimbursement.
